Amir Khusro

Title

Amir Khusro

Description

The son of a Turkish nobleman, Amir Khusro was born in Patiali village of Etah district (now in Uttar Pradesh). He was a poet, philosopher and musician whose contributions to music were as important as his contributions to language and literature. Khusro gave new ragas and raginis to Indian music. Regarded as the father of Qawali, a Sufi form of devotional music, he also introduced the tabla and sitar in the repertoire of the classical music of the Indian subcontinent. The film narrates the life of Khusro by integrating into the film musical and poetry recitals of his work by Qawwals and poets.
