Bastar is as old as the hills. As legend says, it is a part of theDandakarnaya mentioned by Valmiki in Ramayana. This is the biggestdistrict in Asia - 15,224 sq. miles in area, inhabited by about amillion of tribals known as Marias, Halwas, Payas, Daralas andBhutoras. Sixty percent of Bastar is covered by evergreen richdense forests which grow rare and valuable saal and teak. The film depicts the present life of tribals and their folk arts whichare increasingly getting the urban patronage.
